Moving on

After almost 2 weeks enjoying the comfort of the BNL life camp estate, it is almost time to get our act together again. Not to mention that we can’t afford to create real injuries by playing too much tennis.
The 9 women will travel to Abuja from the 3 different states, Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers. It is an approximately 10-hour drive by car, (that includes police roadblocks). Most of them were very happy that we decided to do the training in Abuja; it will be their first time in Nigeria’s capital city. A busy schedule is waiting for them, more hands-on video training with 7 minutes TV-reportages and the introduction of the edit process. Furthermore we are extremely curious what they filmed in the previous two weeks, for their FEMSCRIPT documentaries. No serious alarming phone calls reached us, just the predictable battery problems due to lack of power (or planning:)
So for now, we have to do some last shopping and collect the printed training handouts. Tomorrow we will move back to an apartment downtown where we stayed the first week. Hopefully with electricity… candlelight is nice but our Macbooks will need real power this time, to cope with all the footage that we need to capture! By the end of the trainings week they will need to have an overview of what else they need to film, before heading back to the south. Most probably we will accompany them to shoot some footage for a “making of” film and to do research for our own documentary.
But tonight, a “hens” party with some new made friends. It will be my first actually, but it involves whisky…
