Today part 2 of the FEMSCRIPT workshops started here in Yenagoa, Nigeria.
Nine participants came back from field trips in 3 differtent Niger Delta states. Each group did research on women's rights' issues, interviewing women, policy-makers, students, teachers, chiefs, policeofficers and so on. It was a hectic and warm reunion of the women, each of them with stories they wanted to share. Part 2 of the FEMSCRIPT workshops is about processing & analysing the information they gathered. After this 3 day workshop the participant will start with the FLL participatory video training. The information collected so far is a very good starting point for our workshops. Some hopefull stories but mainly tragic ones on women's rights form each state. Rape, abuse of power, lack of family laws and regulations, lack of political and public participation and of course lack of education for women were most frequently named.
